Does a cheap quote = quality?

A cheap building quote can look like a win at first glance… until the hidden costs start crawling out of the walls like possums in roof space.

The reality is, not all quotes include the same level of detail, quality, or allowances. Some builders keep initial pricing low by excluding important items, underestimating costs, or using unrealistically small allowances for finishes and fixtures.

What starts as a “budget-friendly build” can quickly grow through:

  • Variations during construction

  • Low-quality materials needing replacement

  • Delays and shortcuts

  • Missing items added later

  • Poor workmanship leading to future repairs

  • Aspects intentionally skipped

A transparent quote may not always be the cheapest upfront, but it often saves far more in stress, delays, and unexpected costs down the track.

In building, value beats cheap every time. You want your home to be standing for decades, built as sound as the day it was constructed… not built to win a race to the bottom.
